yes yes i can just see where your mind is heading with the title of this journal entry! no! Piccasso was not some strange female alien who's blood was blue. it refers to a time period in which most of his art was blue... to set the melancholy mood. my point? well if Picasso can have his blue period... i can have my B&W!!! in the next few days you should see some of the stuff i have taken posted here.
Why B&W? I found that digital was making me a tad bit lazy
more point n shoot. Mind you, you can get some great shots with digital but I dont think you can beat being in a dark room developing.. its costly and time consuming but I can see why the supporters of FILM are so adamant about it. Nothing beats that feeling you get watching the developing tray as your picture slowly take shape. Shooting in B&W forces you to think about things like aperture, light, perspective, lens filters etc
because its all you have to use for creative effect. With colour you could get away with out doing any of that and just shoot colourful scenes
colour can be more forgiving at times.
just my 2c on the whole Film-VS-digital & Colour-VS-B&W debate.
For those of you who have been coming back here to check for new work would have noticed i havent posted anything for about a year. Truth be told i was incarcerated in a prison in Guatemala bay... my crime? I fed chocolate bunnies to George bush while apparently emotionally abusing monkey boy by calling him just that!...
What have I learnt from this terrifying experience? Dont feed stale chocolate bunnies to wannab world dominating texan cowboys
maybe not even bunnies?
I hope to post another journal sometime this year
keep your eyes crossed and your fingers peeled
